On Friday 12th June 2026, Vivary Park Golf Club successfully hosted its first Club Charity Day. Stepping in at short notice following the cancellation of the scheduled PGA Pro-Am event, the tournament was a resounding success.

A field of 16 teams competed in a three-player better-ball format, demonstrating exceptional community spirit and camaraderie.

The tournament saw highly competitive scoring across the field, with a dramatic card countback required to separate the runners-up.

🥇 Tournament Winners with a score of 86 Points

Team: Liam Laidlaw, L. Derbe, & L. Learmouth (Visiting from Minehead Golf Club)

🥈 Second Place (Decision via Countback) with a score of 82 Points

Team: G. Bishop, M. Payne, & D. Jackson (Vivary Avalon League Team)

🥉 Third Place (Decision via Countback) with ascore of 82 Points

Team: M. Wilson, D. Morrison, & D. Fletcher

An honorable mention goes to team: S. Wilson, M. Pavey, & R. Miller with a score 82 Points, who were narrowly piped for a podium spot on the countback logic.

Thanks to the generosity of competitors, sponsors, and organizers, the event raised approximately £1,500.

The proceeds will be split between three incredibly worthy causes:

**Escape:** A dedicated support group providing fun activities and short-break holidays for children with disabilities.

**Taunton Foodbank:** A vital community lifeline providing emergency food and support to local people in crisis.

**Somerset Armed Forces Day**: Supporting the free community and family event being in Vivary Park on 4th July 2026.

Acknowledgments & Thanks

The Vivary Park Golf Club Management Committee wishes to extend its formal gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this rapid-turnaround event possible.

To the competitors, all 16 teams who supported the day. While many were understandably disappointed by the cancellation of the Pro-Am, the committee greatly appreciates how seamlessly players adapted their expectations to support a brilliant charitable cause.

To the Club Committee and supporters who worked behind the scenes to coordinate tee times, secure quality golf prizes, and rally team entries at such short notice.

To Everyone Active who allowed the club block booking of Tee Times and preparing the course.

Cullens Catering for providing a superb post-round meal, managing the hospitality seamlessly, and organising the raffle and voucher auction.

We extend a special thank you to our business sponsors whose generosity anchored the day’s fundraising efforts:

Carlsberg

Oake Manor Golf Club

Minehead Golf Club

Enmore Golf Club

Ludacrust Pizza

Building on the undeniable success of this event, the Management Committee will plan establish this as a fixture in the club calendar. Vivary Park Golf Club will endeavor to run a similar major charity event in 2027.
