The Stone Cup came to a thrilling conclusion in a nail-biting final between Dan Barnes and Lewis Mansfield, bringing a competitive field of 19 players to a close.
Both players navigated tough paths to reach the final. Barnes reached the final after overcoming Kai Logan, Duncan Stout, and Dan Fletcher. Mansfield earned his place with a impressive run of victories against Adam Reed, Eddie Cullen, Dan Jackson, and Matt Tiley.
The match lived up to expectations, ebbing and flowing in dramatic fashion. Heading into the 15th hole, Mansfield seized the momentum by winning the hole to bring the match back to level with just three holes left to play.
The match turned decisively on the par-three 16th. Mansfield teed off first, placing his ball safely to the right side of the green. Barnes responded with a tee shot, sticking it inside three feet before sinking the birdie putt to go 1-up with two to play.
On the 17th, Barnes took the honour and struck a 9-iron directly at the flag. For a moment, the ball appeared to drop for a hole-in-one, though it was briefly hidden in the shadow of the flagstick. Facing tremendous pressure, Mansfield hit the green but was left with a long putt, ultimately settling for a four. Barnes calmly stepped up, sinking his second consecutive birdie to seal the match 2&1 and lift the Stone Cup.
