VIVARY SECURE IMPRESSIVE AWAY WIN AT CANNINGTON BEARS

Vivary produced a resilient away performance in the Three Counties League, battling to a hard-fought 3.5 – 2.5 victory against a tough Cannington Bears side.

The match was contested on a knife-edge, with momentum swinging back and forth across the six pairings. However, Vivary’s depth and clinical finishing on the closing holes ultimately made the difference.

Match Summary

The tone for the day was set right at the top of the order. In the 1st Match, the experienced pairing of Rob Miller Sr & Mark Hewitson fought out a gritty, high-quality encounter to halve their match, ensuring a vital half-point went on the board early.

Vivary found momentum in the 2nd Match as Nigel Hutchings & Adam Reed delivered a clinical performance under pressure, securing a 2&1 victory. Cannington hit back strongly in the middle order, however, with Nick Woon & Matt Tiley falling 2&1 in a closely contested 3rd Match, and Gary Bishop & Dan Jackson dropping the 4th Match 4&2 after a tough afternoon against a firing home duo.

With the overall tie hanging in the balance, the lower order stepped up brilliantly for the visitors. In the 5th Match, Mike Wilson & Iain Wilson put on a masterclass, dominating their opponents from the outset to record a resounding 5&4 win and put Vivary on the brink of victory.

The afternoon was capped off by a stellar performance in the 6th Match (Trophy Match). Dan Barnes & Jim Kenworthy showed immense composure on the back nine to seal a 2&1 win, capturing the Trophy points and confirming the 3.5 – 2.5 overall match victory for Vivary.

Current table standings shows Vivary 15 points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.
