A fantastic turnout of 32 players took to the course at the end of May to compete for the Spear Cup. The Stableford format always encourages aggressive play, and the leaderboard certainly reflected that, with the top three spots separated by just a few points.
The Leaderboard
The competition was incredibly tight at the top, with the result hanging in the balance until the final groups returned their cards:
- 🏆 Winner: Chris Heaslewood – 40 ptsA massive congratulations to Chris for a superb performance! Breaking the 40-point barrier is the hallmark of a great round, showing both consistency and the ability to hole out when they mattered most.
- 🥈 Second Place: Mark McKenna – 39 ptsMark pushed the winner all the way to the finish line, signing for an excellent 39 points. On most days, that score would be enough to take home the trophy, and he should be very proud of a rock-solid round.
- 🥉 Third Place: Dan Fletcher – 37 ptsDan rounded out the podium with a very respectable 37 points, proving that steady play and avoiding the “scratched” holes is the secret to success in this format.
